“A fantastic British jazz singer !”
Robert Elms – BBC London

“You can sing!”
Mark Murphy – American jazz singer

“He’s actually very good, a far better singer than Jamie Cullum and more individual than the somewhat overrated Michael Buble. Excellent trio too, with Malcolm Edmonstone providing fine piano. I’d certainly buy Rust’s records.”
Fred Dellar – Gentleman and jazz scribe

Are we there yet? CD Reviews

“Unlike so many of his Stateside contemporaries, Rust refuses to stick to unwritten rules, avoiding paint-by-numbers renditions of songs that have been covered a million times, often in the same fashion. Rust’s version of “That’s Amore” virtually ignores the Las Vegas schmaltz of the Dean Martin original that became the blueprint for countless young jazz vocalists, karaoke singers, and overweight wedding crooners. Rust gives it a modicum of swagger and an abundance of calm self- confidence; it’s as if James Bond were handed a microphone and was ordered to seduce a girl at a party, his deep British accent heightening the track’s ripe sensuality.”
R Sutton – All about Jazz (USA)

“Excellent album !”
Helen Mayhew – Jazz FM

Saints and Singers CD Reviews

“Tom Rust has a voice of great character, with the subtlety to make swing songs really swing and enough edge to save ballads from blandness. Saints & Singers is his debut album – an excellent programme of classic but not over-performed songs, superbly accompanied by the Malcolm Edmonstone Trio.”
Dave Gelly – Jazz critic for The Observer

“I am impressed” ……………..
Chris Parker (Jazz at Ronnie Scotts)

“an enjoyable album executed with a breezy charm”
Ian Mann – 24Dash.com

“Very good” …………………..
Kate Wharton (Straight no Chaser) She told me not to mention that!

“This is great – smooth and contemporary take on classics. Tom is definitely a contender for the Jamie Cullum crown, but the feeling is from this brilliant release is that Tom has something a bit deeper to offer than JC’s light bubbly approach – more a late night burner; mixing classic approach and contemporary sound – GET IT !! “

Concert reviews

“Toms natural vocal ability combines with an innate musicality and sense of adventure. He truly improvises and interacts with Malcolm Edmonstones brilliant trio.”
Fergus 606 Club

“A refreshing take on standards and originals from Tom Rust. Nicely interacting with a top-notch piano Trio led by Malcolm Edmonstone, Tom has the mature musicality to compliment a wonderful voice and is surely set for bigger things. Cullum and Connick Junior, watch out!”
Peter Graham Downstairs at the Kings Head

“Tom’s smooth voice gave the whole evening a touch of glamour. As soon as he started singing we were all itching to start dancing.”
Celia Walden  Editor of Spy Daily Telegraph

“Great Job!”
